Individual Paper: The state of environmental awareness of academic teachers from selected countries of Central and Eastern Europe
The Environmental Awareness of Academic Teachers from
Selected Countries of Central and Eastern Europe
The state of environment is seen as a grave social issue. For this reason, we conducted research from September to December of 2017 to compare the environmental awareness of natural and human science teachers from selected countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
The data collected was subject to qualitative analysis based on selected aspects B. Glaser and A. Strauss’s grounded theory. This indicated which respondents undertook specific actions aimed at promoting pro-environmental behaviour in their private, professional, and academic life.
The respondents’ environmental knowledge also allowed determination of the social and cultural factors that both encourage and discourage pro-environmental awareness and action.
