Participatory Session: Activism on the inside
A little self-exploration on our inner contradictions on the way to a degrowth society
We want to be part of the great transformation and make capitalism history – but often times act against what we think would be a more sustainable behavior. Why is it so hard to integrate a global perspective into our everyday lives? What lingers in the gap between wanting and doing – e.g., not wanting to fly (climate change, of course!) and still flying?
We believe that we embody the infrastructures of capitalism mentally and therefore have to include our minds in a process of transformation. Change is complex – but certainly starts with us. In this workshop, we want to explore our inner contradictions when it comes to "acting degrowth". We will take you on a small journey nourished by sociology, psychodynamic theory and theater to raise awareness of the importance of our inner worlds and imaginaries. We will playfully experiment, reflect and discuss with some (but little) theoretical input. During the conference, we will meet twice to have time for exercises in between the sessions.
