I am Aneliya, I come from Bulgaria, born and living in Sofia. I graduated master degree in „Economics and International Business“ in Sofia. Then I specialised in the field of sustainable business management in Germany as part of the Central and Eastern Europe exchange programme of the German Federal Foundation for the Environment. This experience sparked my interest in the sustainable development framework at a societal level. So, for three years now I have been dealing with the topic of "Challenges in the transition towards sustainable development in Bulgaria" as a PhD student at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg in Germany. Apart from that I am working as a sustainability consultant and research associate at denkstatt Bulgaria.
My research interests include foremost understanding and driving social learning processes towards sustainability in Bulgaria and transition economies, in general. The results show that understanding of sustainable development as a concept at the local level, national, and European level may differ quite substantially; in this regard, I am quite interested to find ways to create mutual understanding and strengthen the role of science in the society. Lastly, I would like to learn about alternative models for development that can be applied at the local/national level, as opposed to growth strategies.
