In 2010 Monica obtained her Bachelor degree in Political Science from the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. After that, in 2013, she completed her Master degree on Development Studies at The Graduate Institute of Geneva (IHEID) during which she wrote her dissertation on ‘Social and Solidarity Economy as a transition path towards a degrowth society. The Geneva Canton experience’, which was presented in the 4th international conference on degrowth in Leipzig (2014). After a few experiences working with local associations and research institutes (Gaea21, UNOHCHR, UNRISD, NORRAG) in 2015 she started her PhD at the University of Lausanne on ‘Citizen energy as a new paradigm in a context of ecological transition in Switzerland’.
